‘Andrea looked Leonardo up and down.
“You must be the boy from Vinci,” he said. “Leonardo, isn’t it?”
“Yes, sir,” said Leonardo quietly.
“Well, Leonardo da Vinci, this is a business,” warned the famous artist. “Paper’s expensive - so if you’re going to learn, you’d better learn quick.”
Leonardo grinned. “Oh, I can do that,” he said. “Just show me how..”
The older man smiled. “I think you’re going to fit right in,” he said, handing Leonardo a stick of chalk. “Start by showing me how well you draw. After all, if you can’t draw, how can you begin to paint?” ‘
